An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Cortlandt Creates Fund Offsetting Losses From Indian Point Closure CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The Town of Cortlandt wants to be prepared for when Indian Point in Buchanan closes its doors. Supervisor Linda Puglisi announced the town has developed a fund, starting this year, to offset the town's loss of $900,000 in revenue when Indian Point shuts down in 2020 and 2021. Puglisi said $100,000 each year from the fund balance will be placed in a separate reserve account. Sister Mary Stolz, 94, Maryknoll OSSINING, N.Y. -- Sister Mary Teresa Stolz, 94, died on April 7 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. She had been a Maryknoll Sister for 63 years. Stolz was born on February 1, 1923, in Elyria, OH to Mary B. (Dietz) and William J. Stolz. She had one brother, Rev. Joseph Stolz and four sisters, Florence, Anne, Cecilia and Margaret. Her parents and siblings have all predeceased her. In 1941, Stolz graduated from Elyria High School and worked as a secretary at The National Society for Crippled Children and the Army Air Corp Depot in Elyria until 1943. Yorktown Man Charged With Felony After Stealing Wallet, Police Say YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A 28-year-old Yorktown resident was arrested and charged Sunday with stealing another man's wallet, police said on Monday. Andrew Eidelson was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree, a Class E felony after an Evergreen Street resident reported his wallet, containing debit cards and cash, was missing, police said. An investigation determined Eidelson had the wallet while on Evergreen Street, police said. Eidelson voluntarily turned himself in and was released on $2,500 bail. Transgender Supervisor Candidate Wants To Move New Castle Forward WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Though her candidacy may be trailblazing, Kristen Browde is hoping to focus on the issues. Students Planning Charity Concert In Sleepy Hollow For Syrian Refugees SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Seven teenagers have come together to plan a charity concert for Syrian refugees at the end of the month in Sleepy Hollow. Relief United will be hosting Project Syria Live on April 28 at Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Money raised will go to CNEWA, a Catholic charity helping Syrian refugees. SPCA Interviews Woman Who Abandoned Cat In Bedford BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The SPCA said Friday it has met with the woman seen in surveillance footage leaving a severely neglected cat in a Bedford parking lot. Lisa Bonanno, director of events and communications for the SPCA, said the investigation remains ongoing. Surveillance tapes from the parking lot show a woman pulling into a parking space on the afternoon of Monday, March 27. The white Persian was in a carrier she took from her car. Three Poughkeepsie Residents Charged In $8K Credit Card Forgery POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Three Poughkeepsie residents were arrested for making more than $8,000 fraudulent credit card purchases with a blank credit card, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said.
