Ossining Student Reaches For The Stars In Science Competition OSSINING, N.Y. -- An Ossining student's study of the stars has led him to be a finalist in Siemens National Science Competition. Charles Gulian, a senior at Ossining High School, is one of 30 people to be named a finalist by Siemens. Gulian, who lives in Ossining, created an algorithm to search the Kepler astronomical database for undetected white dwarf binary star systems.  “The scarcity of these stars in the Kepler database will provide useful information regarding the total number of white dwarf binary systems in the entire galaxy,” Gulian said.
