Oil Spill Reported in Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- An oil spill has been reported near Junior Lake in Yorktown. Cleanup crews are at 120 Upland Road in Yorktown on Monday afternoon, including the Department of Environmental Conservation, according to Noreen Parrell, the backyard neighbor. Ossining Boat & Canoe Club Reopens OSSINING, N.Y. -- The Ossining Boat & Canoe Club, which was closed in October 2013 after the town cited more than 20 violations in the town-owned building, has re-opened. The club was given the go-ahead to reopen after numerous repairs were made and the town inspected the building. Walter Panas High School Evacuated Friday Morning CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt was evacuated for about 50 minutes this morning. According to the Lakeland Central School District, the evacuation was part of a police investigation. There is no direct threat to safety of the students or the building, the district said. Students were evacuated at about 10:30 a.m. and returned to the building at 11:20 a.m., according to the district.
