Dutchess County Sees Growing Population Diversity DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Dutchess County is becoming more diverse, despite a slight decrease in population, according to a report in the Poughkeepie Journal.  Since 2000, the Hispanic and Latino population of Dutchess County has risen by more that 30,000 and now accounts for about 11 percent of county residents, the Journal reported. The number of African-American residents rose from 9.3 percent of the county's total in 2000 to 10.7 percent in 2012, while the percentage of Asian-Americans rose from 2 percent to 2.5 percent, according to the Journal. Yorktown Native's Killer Gets Stay Of Execution YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The execution of a man convicted of slaying a Yorktown woman and her boyfriend in 1988 has been stayed, according to a report in LoHud.com. Alfredo Rolando Prieto, a native of El Salvador, was convicted of three murders in California and Virginia, including that of Rachael Raver, LoHud.com reported.  Prieto had been scheduled to be executed Thursday night, but a federal judge in Virginia, postponed the action pending a hearing on the types of drugs to be used in the execution, according to LoHud.com.  To read the full article, click here.

Peekskill Police Arrest Four After Underage Alcohol Sting PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill police officers conducting alcohol compliance checks arrested four people Friday in separate incidents. Detectives John Merritt and Ralph D’Aliso, working with two underage agents, attempted to purchase alcohol from 13 licensed establishments in the city.
