Police Respond To Cows Roaming Roadway In Ramapo RAMAPO, N.Y. -- At about 3 a.m. during their midnight shift Thursday, Ramapo police received a report of cattle roaming the roadways in the Airmont and South Monsey area.Officers located about eight cows walking in the roadway on Saddle River Road near the Ascension Cemetery. Lighting was poor, and unsuspecting vehicles could easily strike the animals, so officers remained on-scene attempting to guide the cows off Saddle River Road.  Their Emergency Communications Center was able to determine that the cows belonged to Duryea Farm on Ackertown Road in Chestnut Ridge. Boces Honors Graphic Arts Students YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Carmel’s Caitlyn O’Rourke, a graphic arts student at Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES, took first place in an Art Contest sponsored by eSchoolData with an image that combined a photo of a waterfall, a scientific formula and a blueprint. O’Rourke was one of four BOCES students to be honored in the contest. 15 Area School Budgets Pass POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Fifteen school districts in the area approved their budgets for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, according to reports and results from school districts. Budgets were approved for Arlington, Poughkeepsie, Spackenkill, Millbrook, Beacon, Marlboro, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, Pawling, Pine Plains, Dover, Red Hook, Webutuck Wappingers and Putnam Valley's Carmel school district, which includes students from Stormville in Dutchess County..
