Putnam Rabies Concerns Rise As Warmer Temperatures Arrive
BREWSTER, N.Y. -- With warmer temperatures and more hours of daylight, people are spending more time outdoors, and the potential for contact with wildlife increases, according to the Putnam County Health Department. Raccoons, skunks, foxes and bats, as well as feral cats, can carry the rabies virus, which is found in the saliva and nervous tissue of an infected animal.
Transmission can occur through an animal bite, or if saliva comes in contact with an open wound, or an individual’s eyes, nose or mouth, the Health Department says. To educate children about the risk of rabies, teach them to:…
Ramapo Police Respond To Domestic Incident In Town
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo Police responded to a domestic incident in the town Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
The female suspect punched a hole in the basement wall, broke the dining room table, and slammed a chair on the ground, breaking the chair before being arrested for felony criminal mischief and harassment. She was processed on the charges at RPD headquarters, and will be arraigned later this morning.

WINGDALE, N.Y. -- The Schaghticoke First Nations, in partnership with the Town of Dover, is hosting a Unity Gathering at Thomas J.
