Norwalk Public Library Event Shares Stories Of Service
NORWALK, Conn. -- To commemorate the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11 and the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Norwalk Public Library will participate in “Be the Difference – Never Again,” created by Elizabeth Bettina Nicolosi. The goal of the event is to learn about those who risked their lives to save others and to inspire people to take action. RAMAPO, N.Y. -- State Sen. David Carlucci and Assembly members Ken Zebrowski and Ellen Jaffee have taken action in filling the open school resource officer (SRO) position at Spring Valley High School by calling for an immediate replacement. Two Main Street School Destination Imagination Teams Make State Tourney
IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- Two Destination Imagination teams from Irvington's Main Street School, the Fantastic Fiolians and the Imaginators, will compete in the 2016 New York Destination Imagination Affiliate Tournament, which will be held in Binghamton on April 9. The teams advanced to the state finals after receiving top honors at the regional tournament, held on March 5 at Mercy College. Alert Issued For Missing Adult Last Seen Upstate
There is an active missing adult alert for John McElwee, 83. He has dementia and may be in need of medical attention. He was last seen at his home on Bingham Street in Albany at 5 p.m. Monday. He was driving a gray Chrysler Town and Country minivan with New York registration SSW-463. John was last seen wearing a blue hat, black jacket, brown shirt and blue jeans. Rockland Officials Break Ground For Afghanistan, Iraq Veterans Memorial
HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Veterans Service Agency Director Jerry Donnellan will join with veterans' families to break ground on a new memorial to local members of the U.S. military who have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Haverstraw Bay County Park, 21 Gagan Road, Haverstraw. The memorial to the six fallen servicemen will be designed by cadets from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. It will be located adjacent to Rockland County's September 11th Memorial.

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Senate version of a bill to establish a way to monitor New York state's refugee program for potential terroristic threats, sponsored by state Sen.
