Road Work Starting This Week In Brookfield BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The Brookfield Department of Public Works will begin paving work on Aug. 17 on Mist Hill Road and Carmen Hill Road from Granite Drive to North Mountain Road.The original start date of Aug. 15 has been pushed back. Workers will be overlaying the road as one of 20 projects slated to take place this year. Additional roads could be added or deleted based on the budget. Bethel Closing Down Nashville Road For Next Stage Of Work BETHEL, Conn. -- The Town of Bethel Highway Department has finished up repairs and installing stormwater drains on Nashville Road in preparation for the rebuilding of the road surface this week. Nashville Road will be closed daily to through-traffic between Route 53 and Nashville Extension to during operations, although emergency and school bus traffic will not be interrupted in the area. Residents who live within the project area will also have access. Reclamation and grading work will extend from Aug. 16 through Aug. 23 with paving following from Aug. 24 to Aug. 26.

The Depot In Darien Offers Study Skills Workshop DARIEN, Conn. -- After last summer’s study skills workshop, the evidence-based Successful Study Skills 4 Students, or S4, program is back for the second summer at The Depot in Darien. The workshop for middle and high school students teaches study strategies that help them learn and achieve academic success. The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Road Work To Close Part Of Route 110 In Stratford STRATFORD, Conn. -- Route 110 in Stratford will be closed the night of Aug. 16 for bridge work on Route 110 over Pumpkin Ground Brook. All traffic on Route 110 will be detoured beginning at 9 p.m. Motorists traveling north on Route 110 will be detoured onto Cutspring Road, Chapel Street and onto Main Street until rejoining Route 110 near the intersection of Route 15. Connecticut State Police Save 100 From Opioid ODs Due To Change In Law FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The Connecticut State Police is credited with saving 100 lives in fewer than two years by administering Narcan to people who are overdosing on opioids, according to Gov. DOT Meeting To Explain Project To Realign Route 25-Pecks Lane Intersection NEWTOWN, Conn. -- The Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Informational Meeting about intersection improvements planned at Route 25 and Pecks Lane in Newtown on Tuesday, Aug, 16. Norwalk Community College Offers EMT Program NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Community College will offer an EMT Basic Certificate program beginning this month. The program will teach proper techniques in first aid, patient assessments, extrication, communication and various other concepts to give a foundation for students to become an emergency medical technician.
