'Beatles Night' Performed To Sold Out Crowd At Darien's DAC Stage DARIEN, Conn. -- The DAC Stage of the Darien Arts Center had its first production of the new season last week with Beatle Night. A sold out crowd opened the 2016-17 season, which featured a live band performing two sets of Beatles songs. Band members included Darien resident Robert Schaffer, Paul Block, Gary Kristoph, Frank Riccio, Lou Patrick, Mike Conin, Claire Kenny and Chris Balestriere. Schaffer, Riccio, and Patrick played guitar, with Block on keyboards, Conin on drums and Kristoph on bass. Kristoph, Riccio, Kenny, Balestriere and Patrick shared vocals on various tunes. Metro-North Tweaks Schedules For October, Closes Devon Transfer Point BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Metro-North changes will take effect on Sunday, Oct. 2 with slight timetable adjustments and transfers returning to Bridgeport as a result of Devon Transfer Point closing.The changes aim to improve on-time performance during peak hours as well as accommodate upcoming track and infrastructure work. Head Of Trumbull Police Commission Under Investigation TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The head of the Trumbull Police Commission is being investigated after accusations he tried to shake down a local supermarket cashier for $2,600, according to the Connecticut Post. Roger McGovern, 75, is accused of badgering the 33-year-old cashier in an attempt to recover the cost to repair a dent in his Cadillac Escalade he blames on the cashier, according to the Connecticut Post. Himes Casts Lone Vote Against Tax Breaks For Olympians GREENWICH, Conn. -- Connecticut Democrat U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th District) was the only member of the House of Representatives to vote against a bill giving U.S. Olympic and Paralympic medalists a tax break, according to The New York Times.
