NORWALK, Conn. -- Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk invites the community to explore a new exhibit about the Korean culture. "Heart and Seoul: Growing Up in Korea," runs through Jan. 8 and aims to brings modern-day South Korea to Norwalk. Five modern-day Korean kids will give attendees an intimate look into their lives through their diverse interests, customs and ambitions. Public Invited To Mayor's Night Out In Norwalk
NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk community is invited to air their concerns on Thursday at the annual Mayor's Night Out.Norwalk Mayor Harry W. Rilling will be in the Community Room at Norwalk City Hall from 7-8:30 p.m. He will be joined by Norwalk Department Heads and Common Council Members, who also will be on hand to answer questions. Connecticut Violent Crime Rate Lowest Since 1974, FBI Report Shows
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut’s crime rate is at a 50-year low, with violent transgressions the lowest levels since 1974, and overall numbers the lowest since 1967, FBI records show. Connecticut also has seen the second largest decrease in violent crime nationwide. Crime numbers from 2015 released by the FBI indicate an 8.5 percent change over the previous year. Help Fight Diabetes At Greenwich Yogasmoga Meditation, Fitness Event
GREENWICH, Conn. -- Yogasmoga in Greenwich is having a special event on Wednesday to help fight diabetes. "Change Your Future, Fight Diabetes" is being held as part of Greenwich Diabetes Awareness Week. An event is planned from 6-8 p.m. at the Yogasmoga storefront, featuring local trainer Dwayne July of Fit By July. There also will be a guided meditation and refreshments. South Street In Stamford Closed For Work On I-95 Bridge Over Metro-North
STAMFORD, Conn. -- South State Street is closed from Lafayette to North State streets in Stamford, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. South State Street eastbound traffic is being detoured to Lafayette Street. The closure will continue through spring as road crews make repairs to the overpass that carries I-95 over the Metro-North train tracks. DOT Begins Nighttime Work On Route 8 In Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Drivers can expect nighttime lane closures on Route 8 northbound in Bridgeport due to roadwork, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The closures will be from I-95 northbound to just south of the Lindley Street overpass and will continue through Tuesday, Oct. 18. The project consists of milling and resurfacing 2.13 miles of Route 8. The milling work is being done Sept. 25-Oct. 5, with resurfacing to follow through Oct. 18. GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Greenwich Hospital Foundation has announced that Stephen Corman of Stamford has committed to a gift of $1 million to establish the Stephen Corman Prostate Cancer Early Detection Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to expand access to the highest standard of prostate cancer care to the community while maintaining the convenience and comfort of being close to home.
