Beware Of Summer Scams, State Attorney General Says
Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman reminded New Yorkers of common scams that occur during the summer and offered tips to protect against abuse. Scam artists prey during summer months as consumers embark on home improvement projects and plan family vacations. “As the temperatures rise in the summertime, consumers should proceed with caution in regards to unsolicited offers,” said Schneiderman. Rhinebeck Aerodome Announces History Through Reading Program
RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- The Rhinebeck Aerodrome is hosting a program entitled History Through Reading History open to 15 fifth and sixth graders. The program will run from July 11 through July 15 starting at 10:15 a.m. daily and finishing at noon. YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown’s Team Liberty girls under-11 travel soccer team placed second this weekend in the New York State Cup finals which took place.The team, part of the Yorktown Youth Soccer Club’s travel program, playedManhattan’s Asphalt Green Surge which resulted in double overtime and ended in a penalty kick situation. “The team played with a lot of grit today. Greenburgh Looking To Improve Crane's Pond
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh Commissioner of Parks Gerry Byrne and his team met with an aquatic specialist from The Pond and Lake Connections at Crane’s Pond in Edgemont concerning the algae and duckweed problem. Presently the pond has a lot of algae growth with no sign of duckweed. As per state standards the specialist could only treat half of the pond and will return in two weeks to treat the other half. WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Abigail Swartvagher graduated from Orchard View Alternative High School at the top of her class, serving as valedictorian. Two Women Face Charges In Putnam Traffic Stop
PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reported the recent arrests of two young women on misdemeanor charges resulting from a traffic stop. Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Oscawana Lake Road in the Town of Putnam Valley on June 11 at 7:47 p.m.. The deputy detected the odor of marijuana and determined that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Allie M. Farwell, 22, of 353 Main St. in Nelsonville, had a suspended license.
