Rockland Rights Commissioner Leaves Post With $62,000 Payment CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Ram Nagubandi, the former head of Rockland County’s Human Rights Commission, was paid $62,652.63 as part of a disciplinary charge to voluntarily leave the $102,000 a year position on May 6, according to lohud.com. The agreement included roughly $40,000 cash and $22,600 in benefits all paid together. Nagubandi served as the county’s human rights commissioner since 2000, reappointed by County Executive Ed Day in 2014 for a three-year term. Man Charged With Murder At ShopRite In New Windsor NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. -- Andrew Goodenough of New Windsor was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing and murder at a ShopRite in town, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. New Windsor police responded to the store about 9:40 a.m., and a man from Highland Falls was found unconscious before being taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. Suffern Police Respond To Structure Fire RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The Suffern Police Department received a 911 call on Friday about a structure fire on Bridge Street in the Village of Suffern.  Officers responded at approximately 9:40 p.m. and found the house fully engulfed in flames. It was learned at that time that all occupants of the house, including pets, were out of the residence. The Suffern Fire Department arrived on the scene along with several mutual aid departments. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. There were no injuries.

Since 2005, 15 scholarships totaling more than $26,000 have been awarded by the REC/PFA to a graduating Peekskill High School senior who wishes to become a teacher.  The winner is selected based on submitted essays on “Why I Intend to Pursue a Career in Education”.

Eastchester Relay For Life Night Raises Almost $27,000 EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- At this year's Relay For Life, over 130 Eastchester High School students helped raise over $26,500, with money still coming in.The top five fundraisers were Lindsey Moy ($6,050), Joanne Georgiou ($1,675), Zach Shearon ($1,630), Sedona Paykin ($740) and Ralph Medici ($620).  Relay For Life is a community-based fundraising event of the American Cancer Society.
