Four Jersey City Juveniles Arrested For Overnight Car Burglaries: Linden PD Four Jersey City juveniles were arrested and charged with breaking into vehicles on the early morning of Saturday, August 12, authorities said. Officers first received a report of a burglary at 3:30 a.m. when a resident reported someone attempting to enter her vehicle, Captain Christopher Guenther said. The suspects were located using unmanned aircraft systems near Gesner and Laurita Street and police were dispatched to investigate, Guenther said. Traffic Enforcement Officer Suffers Fractured Hip In Jersey City Crash With SUV: Authorities A Jersey City traffic enforcement officer suffered a fractured hip when the scooter she was riding was struck by an SUV on Tuesday, Aug. 15, authorities said. The officer was traveling west on Lexington Avenue crossing the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard when she was hit by the SUV heading south, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Teen Sexually Assaulted Rahway Woman: Authorities Elijah Finis, an 18-year-old Woodbridge teenager was charged Tuesday, August 15 with sexually assaulting a Rahway woman on Thursday, August 10, authorities said. At 11 a.m., Rahway police responded to the 2000 block of Elizabeth Avenue and met with a woman who said she had been sexually assaulted by Finis, who entered her residence unlawfully, Union County Prosecutor William A. QuickChek Opens New North Jersey County Location QuickChek is setting up in shop in Morris County. The convenience store celebrated the opening of its new 5,868 square-foot store at 235 Route 10 East in East Hanover on Tuesday, Aug. 15. As part of the grand opening celebration, QuickChek is giving away one free cup of coffee per customer, per day, for 7 days to QuickChek Rewards members at the East Hanover store. The new East Hanover store is open 24 hours a day. QuickChek has been expanding throughout the Garden State, recently opening a location in Totowa in May.

Four Firefighters Injured After Blaze Damages Historic Church Grace Presbyterian Church, a 99-year-old Montclair institution, suffered extensive damage after a three-alarm fire tore the building on Tuesday morning, August 15. Montclair firefighters rushed to Grove Street and Tuxedo Road at 8 a.m. and found the fire reaching from the basement to the roofline at the back of the church, Deputy Chief Robert Duncan said. 27 NJ Boston Market Stores Issued Stop-Work Orders By Labor Department Boston Market stores across New Jersey owe its workers thousands of dollars in back wages, and the state's labor department is taking action. The NJDOL issued 27 stop-work orders to Boston Market locations throughout the state on Monday, Aug. 14 saying the rotisserie chicken franchise owes more than $600,000 in back wages to 314 employees. The investigation began after the NJDOL received a complaint from an employee at a restaurant in Hamilton last November. Maui Wildfire: Essex County Native Helping Family Impacted Nicole Conway's niece and her family were one of the many people impacted by the wildfires in Maui, Hawaii. Conway, a Belleville resident, has created a fundraiser to assist her niece and several other family members who reside on the island. As of Tuesday, August 15, $525 has been raised. Conway said her entire family is safe but they lost their home and belongings and currently staying with someone else. "They currently don't have much cell service and need everything to restart their lives," Conway said.

Maui Wildfires: Community Rallies Around Westfield Native Amy West, a native of Westfield, lost her home and belongings in the wildfires in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Now Westfield is helping out one of its own. A fundraiser has been created for West, who has lived in Lahaina since 2019. As of Tuesday, August 15, $12,575 has been raised. West plans on staying in Maui to help people however she can. Since the fire she's volunteered to help transport people and critical supplies. To view the fundraiser, click here.

Pregnant Out Of Wedlock: NJ Supreme Court Rules Teacher Can Be Fired Nearly a decade after a New Jersey Catholic school fired one of its teachers for getting pregnant out of wedlock, a New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that the school was within its rights. The Supreme Court ruled on Monday, Aug. 14 in favor of the Church of St. Theresa in Kenilworth, which fired Victoria Crisitello — a second grade art teacher — in 2014, after she told them she was pregnant out of wedlock. Man Robbed Amazon Truck Driver, Stole Hundreds From Vehicles: Linden PD A 22-year old Newark man was arrested last week and charged with robbing an Amazon delivery truck driver at a bowling alley in Linden in June and for committing burglaries in July, authorities said.
