Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Teenager Shot Dead In Cumberland County: Prosecutor A 16-year-old Cumberland County boy was fatally shot on Sunday, June 25, authorities said. At approximately 8:50 p.m., Bridgeton police responded to Mount Vernon Street for a subject suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae. Police found the boy from Millville dead from an apparent gunshot wound, she said. The investigation is ongoing and there is no known threat to the public at this time. Motorist Killed After Flipping, Striking Sign In I-295 Crash An unidentified driver was killed in a single-car crash after veering off Interstate 295 in Mercer County,  authorities said. The crash occurred about 11:52 p.m. on I-295 North in the area of milepost 63.1 in Hamilton Township, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan. The Mercedes-Benz ran off the highway to the right, overturned and struck a support for a sign, Marchan said. The driver, whose name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, was fatally injured, he said. The crash remains under investigation.

Motorcyclist, 50, Killed After Striking Tree In South Jersey: State Police A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Ocean County was killed in a crash in Burlington County, authorities said. New Jersey State Troopers responded to the crash at 7:36 p.m. Sunday, June 25 on Route 653 eastbound at milepost 0.5 in Bass River, they said. Christopher Golden, of Tuckerton, was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle which ran off the roadway to the left and struck a tree, a State Police spokesman said.
