Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

DPW Worker Survives Lightning Strike In Central Jersey A 39-year-old worker for the Woodbridge Department of Public Works survived a lightning strike, authorities said. He was working on a soccer field at Iselin Middle School during the Wednesday, June 14 strike. Police Officer R.J. McPartland, a certified EMT, was at a nearby school when the emergency was called in. McPartland arrived within minutes and restored the man’s pulse, township officials said. The DPW worker was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition, they said.

Shaq Bringing Booming Chicken Chain To NJ With 6 Locations In The Works Think Big. New Jersey native NBA Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O'Neal is bringing his booming chicken restaurant to his home state. The first of six new New Jersey locations is expected to open in Middlesex Borough. All will be run by Garden State business partners Chad and Aditya Patel. Other areas being eyed by Big Chicken are in Livingston, Mercer County, Somerset County and South Jersey, according to a spokeswoman. "The franchisees are still in negotiations," she said. Teenager Sexually Assaulted Near South Jersey Observation Tower: Police A 55-year-old man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a teenage boy, authorities said. The assault occurred in a parked car near the Brigantine Observation Tower in Atlantic County, they said. Thomas G. Aljian Jr. of the Manahawkin section of Stafford was charged with sexual assault of a person who is at least 13 years old but less than 16 years old and child endangerment, Brigantine police said. Maryland Couple Killed In NJ Crash An elderly pair from Maryland was killed in a crash Tuesday evening, June 13 in Highland Park, authorities said. A Mercedes driven by Abeer Viriani, 34, of Iselin, struck a Subaru occupied by Peter Palmer, 75, of Easton, MD, and Carol Paul, 77, of Easton, MD, around 5:30 p.m. at Route 27 and North 10 Street, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Motorcyclist ID'd In Fatal South Jersey Crash: Police Police have identified the motorcyclist killed in.a collision with a flatbed truck in Atlantic County. Vincent Sanborn IV, 49, of Egg Harbor Township died in the collision, police said. The crash occurred at 9:20 a.m. Monday, June 12 on Bethel Road several hundred feet west of Route 9, Somers Point police said. The motorcyclist collided into the side of a MAC flatbed carrier truck, police said. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The truck driver was not injured. The collision remains under investigation.

Jersey Shore Police Officer Had 100 Child Pornography Images: Prosecutor A 57-year-old police officer from Brick Township has been charged with possession of child pornography, authorities said. John Kisch was arrested on Tuesday, June 13, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. The investigation was the result of a referral from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Massive Fire Destroys Warehouse In Central Jersey Firefighters were battling a massive warehouse blaze in Central Jersey, authorities said. South River police warned residents to stay away from Herman Street near Elizabeth Street. South Amboy Fire Department reported that the fire had spread to adjacent homes. The fire broke out Tuesday night, June 13. "Additionally, due to the use of fire hydrants, area residents may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water. If experiencing discolored water, avoid doing laundry until the color returns to normal," police said.
