Motorcycle Crashes Into SUV In Somers SOMERS, N.Y. -- A motorcycle rider who crashed into a small SUV at the junction of routes 118 and 202 earlier Friday is expected to survive, according to New York State Police. The man, who was flown by helicopter to a local hospital, was conscious when transported, state police said. Derek Maurice, 35, has been wanted for failing to appear in court on charges of falsifying business records and criminal possession of stolen property, said the New York State Police. He was arrested in September 2015 for a burglary and jewelry theft in March of 2015, state police said.  When arrested, he was in possession of the stolen jewels. 61 Cats Found 'Living In Filth' In Putnam House Like something out of a horror film, Putnam County SPCA workers found 61 cats living in filth along with dead cats who had been partially eaten in a Kent home after the owner was taken to the hospital by Kent Police. The cats were found on Tuesday after Town of Kent Police officers notified the agency of the living conditions inside the home at 14 Kent Acres Court, said SPCA Chief Ken Ross.
