Man Struck, Killed By Train In Middletown, NJ Transit Says (Update)
A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train Tuesday morning, May 6, near Middletown, suspending service in both directions along the North Jersey Coast Line, officials said.
The incident happened at 9:06 a.m., when train 3223, which had left Penn Station New York at 7:44 a.m., hit a trespasser just west of Middletown, NJ Transit said.
The train was scheduled to arrive in Long Branch at 9:23 a.m., and was carrying about 50 passengers and crew, none of whom were injured.

A traffic stop in Lyndhurst led to the arrest of a Rutherford man and the discovery of a massive stash of illegal drugs and weapons, police said.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, near Park Avenue and Rutherford Avenue, according to Lyndhurst Police Detective Capt. Vincent Auteri.
Detective Michael Giangeruso and Officer Angel Batista pulled over a black Mini Cooper for speeding and a lane violation. The driver, Gavin J. Lebosquet, 47, of Rutherford, had an active arrest warrant out of Hackensack, police said.

Shock and sadness spread following the sudden death of Bryan Evans, a Sussex County father of four. Evans, 39, died on Sunday, April 27 in Morristown, according to his obituary on the Pinkel Funeral Home website.
Bryan, of Hamburg was a devoted husband to Laura and a proud father to sons Bryce and Sylas, and daughters Taylor and Aryana, his obituary says. He worked at Givaudan in East Hanover since 2021 and was named Employee of the Month multiple times for his dedication and work ethic, his obit says. Terroristic Threats, Weapons Charges Filed After Man Brings Gun To Hackensack Restaurant: Cops
A Hackensack man was arrested after police say he brought a gun into a restaurant and used it to threaten someone.
Officers Andres Lopez, Massimo Gallorini, Anzour Marza, and Anthony Mattalian responded to an Essex Street restaurant over reports of a man with a handgun on Sunday, May 4, Hackensack Police Chief Michael Antista said.
Police found 40-year-old Joseph Frankowski with an unloaded Ruger handgun, Antista said.
