Ex-Mass Detective Who Scammed Multiple Landlords For Years Avoids Jailtime: Feds A former Stoneham police officer who admitted to scamming his former landlords for more than a decade will not go to prison for his crimes, federal authorities announced on Thursday, Jan. 4.  Robert Kennedy, 54, of Stoneham, was sentenced to two years of probation and 90 days of home confinement after he pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud in September, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. Teen Killed In Fiery Hopkinton Crash ID'd As Franklin Woman Police have identified the 19-year-old woman killed in a fiery single-car crash on I-495 in Hopkinton.  Allison Kane, of Franklin, wrecked her Nissan Altima near mile marker 55.2 in Hopkinton just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, Massachusetts State Police said. The car burst into flames after hitting the median in the northbound lane.  Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene. It's unclear what caused her to crash. State police are investigating the incident.  A LinkedIn account said Kane had graduated from Franklin High School last year.

Quincy Man Set Raccoon On Fire In Backyard: Report A Quincy man has been charged with animal cruelty after police said they saw him trying to burn a raccoon alive in his backyard, reports said.  Andrew Chieu, 63, was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 30, when Quincy police were called to his  Royal Street home to break up a dispute between him and a neighbor, NBC Boston reported.
