Man Guilty Of Brutal 2020 Murder In Springfield: DA A 25-year-old Springfield man faces life in prison without the possibility of parole after a jury convicted him of killing a 28-year-old in 2020, authorities said. Isiah Taylor was found guilty on Friday, Aug. 11, of first-degree murder in the killing of Christopher Fonville, 28, of Springfield, on Chestnut Street on March 16, 2020, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office said. 2 Adults Killed, 2 Kids Shot Inside Springfield Home (Developing) Officials in Springfield say a man and woman were killed, and two young children were gravely wounded in a shooting at a home on Berkshire Avenue on Monday, Aug. 14. Child Porn: Ex-Preschool Teacher In Central Mass Gets 5 Years In Prison: Feds A 48-year-old Worcester County man who had worked as a preschool teacher in Sweden and admitted to having child porn was sentenced to more than five years in prison, authorities said. Oliver Smith, of Sutton, pleaded guilty in March to one count of possession of child pornography, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. Central Mass Man Nearly Killed In Worcester Motorcycle Wreck A 24-year-old Worcester County man was nearly killed last week after he crashed his motorcycle in Worcetser, authorities said. The 24-year-old Millbury man wrecked on Blithewood Avenue near Oakwood Lane just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, Worcester police. Investigators believe he lost control of the bike, hit the curb, and then careened into two poles. A nurse happened to be nearby and gave him life-saving help until paramedics arrived. They rushed him to an area hospital, where he is being treated for serious life-threatening injuries.

Man Crashes Truck Into Cars, Building Before Running Away In Eastern Mass A 22-year-old man slammed into multiple cars and embedded his truck into a building in Taunton early Sunday morning, Aug. 13, then ran away, authorities said. Infamous Native American Statue Along Mohawk Trail In Western Mass Removed A 20-foot-tall Native American statue and tourist attraction in Franklin County that was considered an offensive eyesore to some and a symbol of representation for others was removed on Friday, Aug. 11. The Charlemont souvenir shop Native and Himalayan Views, formerly the Big Indian Shop, confirmed that it had removed the statue that sat along the Mohawk Trail on Route 2 for nearly 50 years. Man Drowns After Having Medical Emergency At Eastern Mass Marina: Police A man drowned in Essex County Sunday morning, Aug. 13, at a marina in Haverhille after he fell from a boat, authorities said. Police received a 911 call just after 11:45 a.m. to Marianna’s Marina at 72 Coffin Avenue.
