She worked four years at Hometown News as a general assignment reporter, then another two years at Spacecoast Daily in Cocoa Beach, Florida. String Of Home Burglaries Under Investigation In Fairfield County Police in a Fairfield County town have stepped up patrols after three homes were burglarized in the last 10 days. The first burglary took place on Butler Lane in New Canaan on Friday, Oct. 1, where a rear glass door was broken to enter the home. An initial report is that jewelry was stolen, said Chief Leon Krolikowski. The home, he added, did not have an alarm system. Drunk CT Woman Punches Restaurant Employee, Throws Glasses, Police Say A Connecticut woman has been arrested after becoming unruly at a TGI Friday's allegedly throwing glasses and punching a restaurant employee while drunk. Wisdom South, age 25, of New Haven, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 11, after Hamden Police in New Haven County responded to the restaurant located on Dixwell Avenue for a report of an intoxicated patron who was out of control. Bicyclist Struck By Vehicle On Busy Area Roadway A bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in the area. The crash took place at 3:20 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, in Rockland County on North Middletown Road, in Pearl River. A 76-year-old man from Haverstraw was riding his bike northbound on North Middletown Road and was crossing the Route 304 exit ramp when he was hit by a vehicle that was exiting the roadway at the ramp, according to Captain James Brown, of the Orangetown Police Department. Woman Dies In CT Apartment Fire A woman was killed during a fire at an apartment building that started in a third-floor unit in Connecticut. The blaze began around 8:20 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, at the complex located at 95 Kaye Vue Plaza, in Hamden. First arriving firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from a third-floor window, according to Hamden Fire Chief Gary Merwede. Call Of Shots Fired At School In Fairfield County Winds Up Being Hoax, Police Say A call of shots fired at a Fairfield County school that sent multiple officers rushing to the scene ended up being a hoax. The incident took place around 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 at the Roton School in Norwalk. According to Norwalk Police Sgt. One Seriously Injured In Two-Vehicle Long Island Crash A Long Island resident was seriously injured during a two-vehicle crash. It took place around 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, when a man driving a 2008 Nissan SUV on 5th Avenue in Bay Shore in Suffolk County turned east, striking a 2019 Harley Davidson, ejecting the driver. One Killed In Crash Involving School Bus In Hudson Valley One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash between a school bus and a dump truck in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 8:50 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 in Ulster County, on Route 9W in the town of Saugerties.
