ID Released For Man Shot, Killed In Western Mass The identity has been released of the person who died after a shooting in the region. Luis Vazquez, age 28, of Springfield, was shot on Saturday, Aug. 21, on Center Street in Chicopee, said the DA's Office. The Chicopee Police Department responded to the area and found shell casings but could not find anyone who had been injured. At the same time, Vazquez arrived by private transportation to Baystate Medical Center’s Emergency Room and appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. Nine Charged After Prostitution Sting Operation In Region Nine men were charged with soliciting prostitutes during a sting operation in the region. The "Johns" were arrested in Hampden County during the special operation conducted by the Springfield Police on Tuesday, Aug. 31, after the department received numerous "quality of life" complaints from residents in the area. Two Found In Vehicle In Fairfield County Died From Suspected Overdose, Police Say Two men found inside a car in Fairfield County likely died from drug overdoses, police say. The men, believed to be in their 30s, were discovered around 3:45 a.m., Monday, Aug. 30 at the corner of Woodland Avenue and Pacific Street in Stamford after police received reports of the two being unresponsive.
