Long Island Man Killed After Car Crashes Into Tree, Police Say
A Long Island man was killed after losing control of his vehicle and striking a tree, according to authorities.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 15.
Erik Schreiber, age 37, of Islip, was traveling eastbound on the Sunrise Service Road, in Bayport, when his 2008 Nissan the roadway and struck a tree, said the Suffolk County Police
Schreiber was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fifth Squad detectives…
Two Great White Sharks Being Tracked Off Atlantic Coast
Before you dip your toes in the waters off the Atlantic Coast, know that two great white sharks are currently in the area, including near Long Island.
The two are being tracked in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean off the New Jersey coast before they head north, said officials with Ocearch, a non-profit that tracks the location of sharks across the U.S.
There were three great whites in the area, but one, Charlotte, an 8-foot, 338-pound teenager, pinged closer to Cape Cod on Tuesday, June 15, said Paige Finney with Ocearch.

Bullet Enters Fairfield County Home, Kills Cat, Police Say
Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that sent a bullet into a home, killing a cat in Fairfield County.
The shooting took place around 11:15 p.m., Sunday, June 13, in Norwalk in the area of West Main Street.
Police received multiple 911 calls of shots fired, said Norwalk PD Sgt. Sofia Gulino.
One of the shots went through a window, into a residence, and struck and killed a cat, Gulino said.
