A popular Western Massachusetts restaurant is back in business and ready to serve some great meals after closing in December last year due to the COVID pandemic.
Sylvester’s Restaurant in Northampton reopened on Saturday, May 1, with a tag sale, to help those in need as they served food to many customers who had been waiting for the spot to reopen.
The iconic restaurant, opened in 1983, is known for its coffee and espresso, as well as baked goods, waffles, omelets, and well, the list goes on, said it was delighted to be back in business.

Large Bear Killed After Being Struck By Two Vehicles In Connecticut
A large black bear was killed after being hit by two vehicles on Route 202 in Connecticut.
The crash took place around 9:30 p.m., Friday, May 30, in Litchfield County, on Route 202 in the Town of Litchfield, near the Torrington line, said Will Healy with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
There were no major injuries to the drivers of the vehicles, the bear was deceased upon DEEP EnCon Police arriving at the scene, Healy said.
The bear was untagged and uncollared, estimated to be between 175-200 pounds.

Wrong-Way Driver Hits State Police Cruiser On I-91 In Connecticut
A Connecticut woman was arrested after allegedly hitting a police vehicle while driving in the wrong direction on I-91, while drunk.
Latifah Roldan, age 31, of East Hartford, was arrested by Connecticut State Police, on Sunday, May 2, following the incident which took place in the area of Exit 36 in Windsor, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to police, troopers responded to the area after receiving multiple calls around 1:30 a.m., that a Toyota sedan was driving southbound in the northbound lane.

Woman Nabbed With Drugs During Traffic Stop In Area, Police Say
A Hudson Valley woman was arrested for possession of alleged drugs during a traffic stop by New York State Police.
Becky K. Teck, age 50, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Tuesday, April 27, following the stop in the city of Poughkeepsie, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
According to Hicks, at approximately 8:25 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2010 Cadillac CTS on Flannery Avenue in the city of Poughkeepsie for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
