Joe Lombardi, Daily Voice's Managing Editor, has spent his professional career as a newsroom director, manager, editor, producer, writer, reporter and broadcaster who has worked at major websites, television networks, newspapers, magazines and radio stations and as a book author.

The Manhattan native, Irvington (NY) High School and University of Dayton graduate has been actively involved in web publishing for more than 25 years. In addition, he also has expertise in marketing, public relations and social media.

Lombardi rejoined Daily Voice in September 2013 as managing editor after serving as sports editorial consultant from August 2011 through January 2012. He was named to oversee editorial operations in the fall of 2017.

Covid-19: Hudson Valley Positive-Test Rate Spikes To 6.6 Percent; Latest County Totals The Hudson Valley saw the positive rate for COVID-19 testing spike a full percentage point, according to data released by the state on Friday, Dec. 4. The positive testing rate in all focus areas under New York State's Micro-Cluster strategy is 7.35 percent, and outside the focus zone areas is 4.79 percent. Covid-19: Brand-New Alert Issued For Exposure At Restaurant In Area Health authorities have issued a new alert for COVID-19 exposure at a restaurant in the area. Sullivan County Public Health Services has confirmed that at least one individual at La Mananitas, an eatery serving Mexican food in Wurtsboro, tested positive for COVID. A second case linked to that one is likely, pending test results, the department said. Covid-19: Popular Area Food Store Closes After Employee Tests Positive A popular food store in the area has temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. Smoke House of the Catskills, a butcher shop and specialty grocery store in Ulster County, located on Route 212 in Saugerties, said it expects to reopen on Thursday, Dec. 10. Complex Storm System Will Bring Soaking Rain, Dangerous Wind Gusts, Wintry Mix, Snowfall A complex storm system will sweep through the area, bringing heavy rain, dangerous wind gusts that could cause power outages, a wintry mix for parts of the area, and accumulating snow for others. The time frame for the storm is Friday night, Dec. 4 into Saturday afternoon, Dec. 5. Wind gusts will be between 40 to 50 miles per hour for most of the region. (See first image above.) Covid-19: CT Positive-Test Rate Climbs To 7.1 Percent, Highest Since Spring; Latest Data The overall positive rate of those being tested for COVID-19 in Connecticut has surpassed 7 percent as the number of new cases continues to climb at rates not seen since the spring. A total of 66,645 tests were administered on Wednesday, Dec. 2, and 4,751 came back positive (7.13 percent rate). A total of 1,191 patients are currently hospitalized statewide, a decrease of 11. ID Released For 21-Year-Old Killed In Shooting At Long Island Park The identity has been released of a man killed in a shooting at a Long Island park. The incident happened in Freeport at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Stevens Street on Saturday, Nov. 28 at around 4:30 p.m. Upon police arrival, officers observed two men, 21 and 19 years of age, who were the victims of gunshot wounds. The 21-year-old, now identified as Taffarie Haughton, of Freeport, was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a staff physician.
