Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Firefighters Respond To Multiple Calls In Dutchess County DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was a busy Monday for volunteer firefighters in several Dutchess municipalities -- responding to multiple car accidents, a minor fire at a high school and a brush fire. Pregnant Woman Hospitalized After Slamming Into Amenia Building AMENIA, N.Y. -- Firefighters from Amenia were called to the scene of an accident involving a car into a building at 5327 Route 44 in Amenia early Monday afternoon.  Capt. John Watterson, a spokesman for the Dutchess County Sheriff's Department, said, "There was no intrusion into the building, and no structural damage to the building." The driver was a pregnant female who was transported to Sharon Hospital for evaluation, Watterson said. No charges have been filed, and the cause is still under investigation, Watterson said.
