Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

With Hommocks Closed, Mamaroneck Middle Schoolers Return To Snow Shoveling MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- With Mamaroneck Union Free School District recording its fourth snow day off this winter, some students took advantage of the snowfall by going to work on Thursday. These two Hommocks Middle School students shoveled their neighbors' sidewalks and driveways along Edgewood Avenue in the Town of Mamaroneck. But they'll have to make up the lost school day on Monday April 6, which Mamaroneck schools had set aside as a reserve snow day/school holiday after spring recess. Thursday's snowstorm also prompted the Mamaroneck Public Library to close.
