Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx. 

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Clifton Driver Killed In Route 21 Crash A Clifton man died when he crashed his car through a sound barrier off Route 21 before dawn Saturday, authorities confirmed. Franklin Cedeno, 38, crashed his 2007 Audi A4 coming off the southbound ramp at Lexington Avenue just after 2:45 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Mark Centurione said in a joint announcement. Cedeno was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.

Police: Armed Trio Sought In Clifton Home Invasion Detectives were searching for three bandits who forced their way into a Clifton home and robbed the occupants at gunpoint. The Knapp Avenue victims told police the robbers fled toward Randolph Avenue after the 12:30 a.m. break-in Wednesday. A cellphone and some jewelry were among the valuables taken, responders said. Oradell Driver, 17, Critical After Haworth Crash A 17-year-old Oradell boy clung to life after his SUV slammed into a tree in Haworth Thursday night. Borough firefighters extricated the unconscious driver from his 2002 Toyota 4Runner following the 9:42 p.m. crash in front of the SUEZ water treatment plan on Lake Shore Drive, Detective Sgt. Justin Fox said. The Haworth Ambulance Corps took him to Hackensack University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Fox said. He was last reported in critical condition, the sergeant said.
