Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

SUV Plows Into Front Of Midland Park Dental Office A driver escaped unharmed Tuesday after her SUV plowed into the entrance of a Midland Park dental office, ending up on on the steps. The BMW X5 took down the railings on the exterior staircase at Veenstra Family Dental on Godwin Avenue as the driver apparently was attempting to park. TSA: Passenger Tries Bringing Large Sword Onto Plane At Newark, Other Weapons Seized Nationwide A man who tried carrying a large sword onto a plane at Newark Airport was nabbed by TSA agents. Yonkers ID Thief Nabbed At Teterboro Costco, Moonachie Police Say A Yonkers woman was carrying stolen IDs, including a Pennsylvania woman’s driver’ license that she told Moonachie police was hers, authorities said. Police were called to the Teterboro Costco off Route 46 after Ivanna C. Estrella, 27, tried buying two iPhones with a stolen identity, Police Chief Richard Behrens said. Passaic Shooting Victim, 22, Dies A 22-year-old Passaic man died in surgery after being shot Sunday night, authorities said. Amir Pyron was found bleeding on the sidewalk near the corner of Passaic and 5th streets in Passaic just after 9:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center less than four hours later, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Update: Ramapo Reservation Remains Closed Indefinitely Following Coyote Attacks On Woman, Dog Bergen County officials closed the Ramapo Valley County Reservation in Mahwah until further notice after a woman and a dog were injured in separate coyote attacks Saturday.
