Authorities ID Driver Killed In I-280 Crash A 67-year-old Newark man died on a crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 280. A Chrysler passenger car was heading east when it was struck by a westbound Chevy Silverado near mile post 13.5 in Newark around 4 a.m., NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said. A Nissan Juke -- traveling behind the Chrysler -- struck the Chrysler and then the front of the Chevy struck the Nissan, Marchan said. The Chrysler and Nissan struck the right concrete curb. 1 Injured, Somerville Man Dead In Newark Shooting A 31-year-old Somerville man was killed and a 28-year-old man injured in a Newark shooting early Friday morning. The shooting occurred on the 200 block of Washington Street. Christopher Williams was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:13 a.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. The 28-year-old man survived. No arrests had been made as of Friday. The investigation is active and ongoing. Heroes: Officers Revive Man At NJ Shooting Range Three North Jersey officers are being hailed as heroes for performing life-saving measures on a man at a local gun range. Secaucus officer Philip Caruso found the 59-year-old victim without a pulse and not breathing when he arrived at Long Shot Gun Range around 8:30 a.m. June 12, Chief Dennis Miller said. Caruso began CPR as officers Matthew Kirvin and Kristen Bronowich arrived, and assisted. Florida 'Online Predator' Sent Nude Photos To 12-Year-Old Union County Girl, Authorities Say A 24-year-old Florida man was caught sending "explicit" materials to a 12-year-old girl from Summit who he met online, local police said. Bradley Fisher, of Hudson, FL, met the girl through the Discord social media app, City officials said in a release. Fisher asked the girl for pornographic images and sent ones of himself to her, authorities said. Garfield Officers Spot Fire At Primex Plastics Garfield police officers summoned fire crews after spotting smoke coming from a building on River Driver Thursday. The 2-alarm blaze broke out in a cell phone site on the roof of Primex Plastics at 65 River Dr. around 5 p.m. Flames extended to the building but was under control in less than 30 minutes.
