Teen Boy Critical In Newark Shooting A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in Newark Sunday, May 21, authorities said. The incident happened just after 5:22 p.m., on the 100 block of Boyd Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in critical condition. The incident remains under investigation.

Bystander Saves Cop From 'Guillotine' Chokehold During Unruly NJ Mall Patron's Arrest A bystander came to the aid of a South Jersey police officer who was put in a "guillotine" style chokehold by a disorderly mall patron he was trying to arrest over the weekend, authorities said. Michael Carberry was harassing shoppers at the Deptford Mall around 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, bringing police to the scene, Deptford Police Chief Joe Smith said. Missing Virginia Man Found Dead The search for Mateo Zevallos has come to a tragic end. The body of a man believed to be the missing 21-year-old George Mason University student was found in Shenandoah National Park on Sunday, May 21 around 12:15 p.m., according to Claire Comer, a spokeswoman for the park. Police did not say where in the park the body was found. The body is being transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas for positive identification and determination of cause of death. Trails in the Overall Run area that were closed for search operations have been reopened.

Philadelphia Murder-Suicide Victim ID'd Police have identified one person killed in a Philadelphia murder-suicide overnight. Katie Dales, 29, was shot multiple times in the head inside an apartment at 100 E. Roosevelt Boulevard around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, May 20, city police said. The shooter, identified only as a 27-year-old man, suffered a single gunshot wound to the mouth, police said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene just before 12:20 a.m., police said. Police ID Motorcyclist, 46, Killed In Fairfax County Crash A 46-year-old motorcyclist died in a Fairfax County crash Friday, May 19. Samuel Gensel, of Springfield, was heading north on Hoos Road on a 2001 Harley Davidson when he failed to navigate a curve and veered off the roadway just before 5 p.m., police said. The crash happened near the Crosspointe Glen Way intersection, ejecting Gensel, police said. Gensel was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
