'Jersey Gyros' Owner Dreamt Of Opening Shop Since Visiting Uncle's In Greece — So He Did Opening his own gyro shop has been on Mike Tolos' mind ever since he visited his uncle's spot in Greece as a kid. It was a hole-in-the-wall type place in Thessaloniki, and as soon as Tolos walked in, he was hit with the aroma of pork and chicken roasting on the skewers. What he enjoyed most about visiting the shop, though, was seeing the love that his uncle put into it, because he felt the same passion himself. "My uncle did it from love," said Tolos, 39, of Cliffside Park. "The dedication that he has fell on me." Tolos signed the lease for Jersey Gyros on Main Street in Lodi last March.…

Support Surges For Family Of Toddler Who Died Weeks After Being Pulled From North Jersey Pool Support was surging for the family of a 3-year-old North Jersey boy who died weeks after he was rescued from a pool. Adrian LeBron Taylor was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center after the accident on July 11, according to a GoFundMe campaign for his family. He was in the ICU at the Joseph M. Hudson County Heroin, Fentanyl Mill Takedown Nets 3 Arrests: State Police More than 38 grams of heroin and fentanyl were seized in the takedown of a drug production facility in Hudson County and lower Bergen, authorities said. An investigation into Richard Stroman Jr., 38, of North Arlington, began last May when police were tipped off to a drug mill being run out of a West New York home, New Jersey State Police said. Stroman had been using a home in Union City to support the operation, police said. Gas Station Fight Leads To Attempted Murder Charge For Somerset Man: Prosecutor A 32-year-old Somerset man has been charged with attempted murder when a gas station fight turned into a stabbing last month, authorities said. After Matthew B. Hall and the victim shoved each other, Hall went to his car at some point during the 12:30 a.m. argument in Franklin Township to get a weapon on July 23, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. Anton Black's Family Reaches $5 Million Settlement Three small towns in Maryland will pay $5 million to the parents of 19-year-old Anton Black, who died during a 2018 police encounter, and must implement new policing policies and use-of-force training, following a two-year legal battle. The suit was filed against the towns of Greensboro, Ridgely and Centreville, along with the state medical examiner's office, two police officers and their two police chiefs. Tooth Extraction Lands North Jersey Trainer On Ventilator One day, Johnny Gouvanis is getting a tooth extracted. The next, he was in the hospital on a ventilator. The personal trainer from North Jersey suffered an infection after having a tooth extracted on July 28, and was put on antibiotics and then the ventilator to protect his airways. Doctors worried the size and swelling of the infection would affect his breathing.
