Driver Suffering Medical Episode Kills Bicyclist, Fireworks Stand Worker In DC: Police
A driver suffering a medical episode ran a red light killing a bicyclist and fireworks stand worker July 4th weekend in Northeast Washington DC, police said. The pickup was heading north on Minnesota Avenue when the driver struck a bicyclist in the crosswalk around 5:30 p.m., Assistant DC Police Chief Wilfredo Manlapaz said at a press conference. The truck then drove into a fireworks stand at the corner of Nannie Helen Burroughs, killing the man working it. Police believe the driver was suffering a medical emergency. Construction Worker Killed Crossing NJ Street Immigrated To Give Family In Peru Better Life
Support is surging for the family of a 57-year-old Essex County construction worker struck and killed by a car while crossing the street last month. Miguel Vargas was rushed to the hospital after the 10 p.m. incident on Washington Avenue in Belleville, on June 24, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Details Released In Route 9 Crash That Left Two Dead, Two Critical
Two passengers were killed and two drivers were seriously injured in a crash on Route 9 in Freehold Sunday, July 3, authorities said. A 74-year-old Manalapan woman heading south on Route 9 sideswiped a 2015 black Lexus RX350 in a 2019 Lexus NX around 1:30 p.m. at the Route 33 intersection, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said. She then side-swiped a white 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, before rear-ending a 2017 black Honda CR-V. The black Honda CR-V then rear-ended a 2009 purple Scion TC, Linskey said. ShopRite of Greenwich, located on Route 22, issued a release regarding store-made packages of ground beef, Angus ground beef, meatloaf mix and ground pork with a sell-by date of July 2. Terrifying Armed Robbery Spree Targets Mailmen Across DC, Maryland
Six United States Postal Service mail carries were robbed at gunpoint and assaulted in the spans of two days across Washington DC and Maryland, officials said. The suspects made off with "a wide variety of items that the postal service provides their carriers to do their jobs on a daily basis" along with personal property, according to USPIS spokesman Michael Martel. Body Pulled From Hudson River After Good Samaritan Jumped In To Help: Police
A man's body was pulled from the Hudson River in Hoboken after a Good Samaritan tried rescuing him, authorities said. Officers responding to the scene around 8 p.m. saw the 52-year-old man floating face-down, and a 63-year-old man who had been trying to help him climbing out, city police said in a tweet. Firefighters pulled the victim, a Jersey City resident, from the water at 7th street and Sinatra drive, and he was pronounced dead. The incident was not considered suspicious in nature, police said.
