Joe Lombardi, Daily Voice's Managing Editor, has spent his professional career as a newsroom director, manager, editor, producer, writer, reporter and broadcaster who has worked at major websites, television networks, newspapers, magazines and radio stations and as a book author.

The Manhattan native, Irvington (NY) High School and University of Dayton graduate has been actively involved in web publishing for more than 25 years. In addition, he also has expertise in marketing, public relations and social media.

Lombardi rejoined Daily Voice in September 2013 as managing editor after serving as sports editorial consultant from August 2011 through January 2012. He was named to oversee editorial operations in the fall of 2017.

37-Year-Old Firefighter In Region Dies In Line Of Duty A 37-year-old firefighter in the region died in the line of duty. The Sullivan County Bureau of Fire and the Forestburgh Fire District said that Assistant Chief William J. Steinberg died on Saturday, Jan. 15 while operating at a mutual aid structure fire. Steinberg, who was known as "Billy," was battling a second-alarm fire in Monticello, according to authorities. Further information has not yet been released. Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Suffolk County Crash Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash overnight near a Long Island intersection. It happened around 7:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 in Commack. The victim, James Coogan age 63, was riding a 2020 Honda motorcycle northbound on Harned Road, west of Florida Avenue, when his vehicle crashed, Suffolk County Police said. Coogan, of Commack, was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Suffolk County PD Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Suspect At Large After Suffolk County Bank Robbery Police are searching for a suspect after a late-afternoon Long Island bank robbery. The man entered the Citibank branch in Lindenhurst, located at 120 Sunrise Highway, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, and handed a teller a note demanding cash and announced a robbery, Suffolk County Police said. The suspect left without proceeds when the teller did not immediately comply and fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to police. One Killed In Single-Vehicle Northern State Parkway Crash In Nassau County An investigation is underway after a person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on a busy Long Island roadway. It happened just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 on the Northern State Parkway near Exit 34 in the town of North Hempstead. The driver was traveling eastbound on the parkway when the vehicle left the roadway, into the southbound shoulder, striking two trees and a light pole, according to state police.
