Joe Lombardi, Daily Voice's Managing Editor, has spent his professional career as a newsroom director, manager, editor, producer, writer, reporter and broadcaster who has worked at major websites, television networks, newspapers, magazines and radio stations and as a book author.

The Manhattan native, Irvington (NY) High School and University of Dayton graduate has been actively involved in web publishing for more than 25 years. In addition, he also has expertise in marketing, public relations and social media.

Lombardi rejoined Daily Voice in September 2013 as managing editor after serving as sports editorial consultant from August 2011 through January 2012. He was named to oversee editorial operations in the fall of 2017.

Salmonella Outbreak 'Growing Rapidly,' CDC Says A new salmonella outbreak with an unknown cause has infected over 125 people in 25 states and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) is cautioning that it's growing rapidly. The first illness was reported on Tuesday, Aug. 3 and the number of cases has steadily increased since then. As of last week, 127 people were infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Oranienburg, the CDC said. The incident happened Monday, Sept. 20 at about 2:50 p.m. in Merrick. ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Car On Long Island Roadway The identity has been released of a man who was killed after being struck by a car on a Long Island roadway. The incident happened around 10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, in East Meadow. A 34-year-old man was driving a 2000 Honda westbound on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of Merrick Avenue and struck the man walking on the roadway,  Nassau County Police said. The man, now identified as Rolando Lopez, age 35, of East Meadow, suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead, police said. The driver remained at the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20 in Freeport. An 18-year-old man was operating a 2015 Subaru eastbound on Mill Road when the vehicle struck the 40-year-old man in the vicinity of Hanse Avenue, Nassau County Police said. The man suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The driver remained at the scene. The vehicle was impounded. The investigation is ongoing.
