Lake Mahopac Boat Parade, Festival Honors Armed Forces, Helps Vets
MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Patriotism will be on display at the annual Armed Forces Appreciation Festival on Saturday, July 9 on Lake Mahopac, Mahopac, N.Y.
A parade of boats will highlight the festival. A "Most Patriotic Boat" will be recognized with a trophy.
There will be a DJ, color guard, raffles, and barbecue picnic available, free to military service men and women and veterans.
The festival runs from noon to 5 p.m. at 897 South Lake Blvd., Mahopac, N.Y.

Pelham Student Wins There Ought To Be A Law Contest For Hearing Aid Bill
PELHAM, N.Y. -- Pelham Middle School garnered two wins in State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, (88th District) There Ought to be a Law Contest.The winners are Sarah Jane O'Connor, first place who proposed state mandated insurance coverage for basic hearing aids and James Nespole, third place, who proposed the creation of a Good Samaritan Law to protect people who took action saving children left unattended in a hot car.
