Redding Seeks Ways To Retain Fire Department Volunteers
REDDING, Conn. -- Officials in Redding and fire chiefs of the town's three volunteer fire departments are looking into how to draw more volunteers to the departments, with additional tax advantages among the "perks" considered to keep fire and EMS staff, according to the Redding Pilot. WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The fascinating world of robotics was on display in area classrooms when the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center took robots out on school visits to schools in Westhester, Putnam and Rockland counties.The Model Schools Department visits featured robots, Relay and Grace, officially called "NAO" robots. FBI Charges North Carolina Man With Threatening To Kill Sen. Blumenthal
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The FBI on Tuesday arrested a man from North Carolina who threatened to kill U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal during a call to his Hartford office, according to the Hartford Courant. While talking to an office intern, the man threatened to "shoot [Blumenthal's] ... brains out" if the senator raised his taxes, said the Hartford Courant. Trumbull Woman Faces Prison For Merritt Crash That Injured DOT Worker
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- A Trumbull woman could serve five years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to driving under the influence and hitting a worker from the Connecticut Department of Transportation on the Merritt Parkway in 2015, said the Connecticut Post. The 55-year-old worker sustained permanent brain damage in the accident, according to the Post. The driver, 25-year-old Denisse Garcia pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and driving under the influence in the plea deal, the Connecticut Post said. Tarrytowns School Board Trustee Joe Lillis Hits 20-Year Mark
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- At more than 20 years, Joe Lillis is the longest serving trustee on the Tarrytowns school board. Lillis is a former teacher, teaching mathematics for seven years after graduating college. Having an interest in public education, he jumped at the chance to run for the school board. The school board is focused on supporting Christopher Bursari, who was recently named the new superintendent. "We are making sure he has everything he needs to succeed in his job," Lillis said.
