New Canaan Country School Sets Open House NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan Country School will have an open house from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the school, 635 Frogtown Road, New Canaan.The school is a co-ed, independent day school serving beginners (ages 3 and 4) through grade 9. Peace Corps Worker, Author Will Discuss Years In Africa In Fairfield Talk FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Catherine Onyemelukwe will be give a free presentation about her book, "Nigeria Revisited: My Life and Loves Abroad" on Wednesday, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road. Onyemelukwe is an American who joined the Peace Corps to teach in Africa in 1962. She planned to stay for two years; however, her stay lasted 24 years. She met a Nigerian man, fell in love, married, survived a war, raised three children, founded an organization and created a business. Shelton High Student Arrested After Tweeting About Using Gun SHELTON, Conn. -- A Shelton High School student was arrested after he reportedly posted on Twitter that he had a gun and planned to use it, according to the Shelton Herald. Police were shown the post on Twitter by a parent who was concerned, says the Shelton Herald. Officers charged the 17-year-old male student, who did not have a gun, with second-degree breach of peace and sent the case to juvenile court, according to the Shelton Herald. Wife Of Pleasant Valley Strangling Suspect Took Police To Victim's Body PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. -- A man's wife reportedly showed police where to find the remains of her husband's mother, whom he is accused of strangling then bringing to a desolate area in South Carolina 800 miles away, according to Poughkeepsie Journal.The woman reportedly assisted her husband in taking the body there following the strangling then putting his mother's body in a Pleasant Valley Motel room for seven weeks, the Poughkeepsie Journal says.
