Rockland NAACP Files Complaint In 'No Haitians' Nurses Ad
NEW CITY, N.Y. -- Two branches of the NAACP in Rockland have filed a complaint against Intermim Healthcare Inc. and the New City Pennysaver with the Rockland County Human Rights Commission with regards to the publication of an employment ad for nurses that includes "no haitians" in the ad, according to lohud.com. New Paltz: Police Arrest Man In Alleged Phony Investigation
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -A man, 77, was arrested for allegedly pretending to be an investigator and reportedly being paid in excess of $8,000 for work he did not do, according to Time Warner Cable News, Hudson Valley.According to state police, Vincent Anastasio told the victim he worked as a private investigator for a law firm in New York City, says TIme Warner Cable News, Hudson Valley. Bridgeport Woman Killed In Trumbull Car Crash Off Route 8
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- A 62-year-old Bridgeport woman was killed in a car crash as she exited Route 8 in Trumbull on Saturday, according to NBC Connecticut. Phek Ing was exiting Route 8 south onto Nichols Avenue/Route 108 when a northbound vehicle slammed into her car at about 9 a.m., police told NBC Connecticut. Police Charge Driver In Chestnut Ridge Garbage Truck Tip Over
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo Police charged a man who caused his garbage truck to tip over in August resulting in injury to his co-worker's arm, according to Lohud.com. Dr. Beny Primm, 87, Advocate For AIDS Prevention, Dies
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Dr. Beny J. Primm of New Rochelle, who is credited with starting some of the first methadone clinics for treatment of heroin addiction during the 1960s in New York City died at age 87 on Oct. 16, according to The New York Times. Primm is also nationally renowned for his advocacy efforts to change public health policy with regards to users of intravenous drugs during the 1980s AIDS epidemic, according to The New York Times. "Heathers The Musical" Performances Continue In Hackensack
HACKENSACK, N.J. -- "Heathers The Musical What's Your Damage?" is in its final week at the Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, 39 Broadway. The show will continue with 8 p.m. shows Thursday through Saturday. All tickets are $19. However, on Thursday, there will be a special talk back with Barrett Wilbert Weed, who originated the role of Veronica Sawyer in the Off-Broadway production. Little Ferry Students Show Support For Respect And Safety
LITTLE FERRY, N.J. -- The Little Ferry school district has one more week of its month of respect and safety and has planned the following events: Monday: "Team Up Against Drugs" and wear your favorite sports jersey. Tuesday: Say "I'm too bright for drugs" by wearing bright clothing. Wednesday: Say "Being drug free is no sweat" by wearing sweats. Thursday: There will be an Internet safety presentation for seventh-graders. All students are asked to wear patriotic colors of red, white and blue. Friday: Say "Boo to drugs" by wearing your Halloween costume.

Teaneck Boys And Girls Can Learn New Dance Moves
TEANECK, N.J. -- Boys and girls in Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin middle schools will be introduced to a variety of dance styles during a creative dance program being offered at the Teaneck Community Education Center, 1 Merrison St.The classes run from 3:15-4:45 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays from Oct. 26 through Dec. 14, and they will culminate in a performance. Teens Use Of Social Media At Night Affects Sleep
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- More than 20 percent of the 800 teens responding in a research study revealed they regularly awaken at night to look at or write something on social media, according to The Huffington Post.The findings led experts to conclude that consulting social media at night adversely affects teenagers sleep cycles, contributes to fatigue and is otherwise harmful, according to the The Huffington Post.
