Newark Scooterist Killed After Colliding With Vehicle: Prosecutors A 36-year-old Newark was resident was killed when the electric scooter they were riding collided with a vehicle on the morning of Monday, July 31, authorities said. At 7 a.m., police were notified of a scooter-vehicle collision on the 700 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue near the intersection of Whittier Place, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Union City Police Officer Busted For DWI: Secaucus PD (Updated) A police officer from Hudson County has purportedly been charged with DWI, according to authorities and various news reports. Mauricio Garces, a 34-year-old Secaucus resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Sunday, July 2, Secaucus Police said. Garces has been a police officer in Union City since 2019. At 3:03 a.m., police observed a car stopped in a lane of traffic in the area of Secaucus Road and County Avenue, officers said. The driver of the vehicle was found to be sleeping, police said. Gelateria Opens In Ridgewood Ridgewood just got sweeter. A new gelateria, Gelato di nonna, has opened in the downtown at 37 E Ridgewood Avenue. The location was previously home to Wild and Hearty, a juice bar. Wild and Hearty opened in 2019 under the same ownership as Samba Bowls. It wasn't clear when the shop shuttered, but was last active on Facebook in Summer 2021. According to Google, Gelato di nonna's hours are noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

CardiGate? Tenafly Rapper Asked To Be Splashed Moments Before Concertgoer Hurled Drink She did ask for it. Sort of. After going viral for throwing a microphone at an audience member who threw a drink at her during a Las Vegas concert, new footage shows Tenafly's Cardi B had asked to get wet. A lottery ticket sold in Kearny matched five of the five white balls drawn in the Saturday, July 29, Powerball drawing, netting the winner $1 million. The ticket was sold at Kearny Deli and Liquor. Four Injured In Fire Engine Crash Outside Prudential Center: Prosecutors Four people were injured after a Newark fire engine collided with a car outside the Prudential Center in Newark on Sunday, July 30, authorities said. $5M Gym Replacing Shuttered North Jersey Big Lots Store People in Livingston have no excuse for not wanting to exercise. Crunch Fitness announced on its Instagram page it is planning to open a brand new 35,000 square foot gym at the site of the former Big Lots store at 585 W Mount Pleasant Avenue this fall. According to its Instagram page, the $5 million gym will open this fall. The first 500 members will pay only $1 and get one month free, along with a free t-shirt and other swag.

Woman Dies After Discovered Unresponsive Outside Rutgers Newark: Prosecutors A 42-year-old Newark woman died after she was found unresponsive outside a Rutgers Newark University building on Saturday, July 29, authorities said. At 12:41 p.m., Rutgers Police found Jaleila Wilson outside a university building on the 100 block of Bleecker Street, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N.
