Old Tappan Boy Struck By Car Sees Overwhelming Community Support As Stefan Wiklinski remains on the mend after being struck by a car in Old Tappan while riding his bike, residents of the borough are showing they have his back. A fundraiser has been created to support Wiklinski's family with medical expenses following the Sunday, June 11 incident. As of Tuesday, June 20, more than $60,000 has been raised. At Branch Brook Park, a mother noticed her 4-year-old child was missing and notified a police officer, the Essex County Sheriff's Office said. Officers began a search of the area and eventually the mother found her child's scooter near the roadway adjacent to a lake by the boathouse, police said. Community Rallies Around Detective's Ailing Mother Jaber Jaber, a detective with the Guttenberg Police Department, is trying to help his mother anyway he can. Jaber recently found out his mother is ill and faces a long and expensive medical battle. West New York Police Captain Stole $60K From Youth Academy: Prosecutor A 49-year-old West New York police captain was charged with stealing from the West New York Youth Police Academy, which he helped raise money for, authorities said. Erwin Moreno was arrested on Thursday, June 15 after an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Internal Affairs Unit, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
