Man Fought, Spat On North Bergen PD A 36-year-old North Bergen man was arrested and charged after he fought with police officers and spit on them, authorities said. Jayson Sanchez was in a verbal dispute with another man at 8600 Columbia Ave when officers arrived on scene on Saturday, May 6, police said. Sanchez was heavily intoxicated and agitated and began to fight police, officers said. Sanchez resisted being placed under arrest and spit on officers and also tried to bite an officer, police said. Jersey City firefighters were first called to 150 New York Ave. at 1:44 p.m. for a two-alarm fire in a three-story three-family residential structure, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Greek Development, which is redeveloping the property, sent out a statement Monday, May 8, and said the building will not be imploded.
