An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

'Chasing Chasing Amy': Famous NJ Movie's Legacy Explored In New Doc Though "Chasing Amy" is a 90s Garden State classic, a new documentary is exploring its somewhat problematic legacy. "Chasing Chasing Amy" is premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, spotlighting "Chasing Amy", Kevin Smith's film about a man who falls in love with a lesbian and develops a relationship with her. Former Newark Market Worker Anthony Da Mata Dies Suddenly At 42 Anthony Da Mata, a longtime Newark native, is being remembered for his love for his family and his love of sports. Da Mata 42, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 21. He loved S.L. Benfica, a Portuguese soccer team, the New York Yankees, the New York Rangers and the New York Giants, according to his obituary. He started working for Seabra's Market on Lafayette Street when he was 16, his obituary reads. Man Seriously Injured In Construction Accident In Jersey City A man was taken to a nearby hospital in Jersey City with serious injuries after a large piece of equipment fell on him at a construction site on the morning of Thursday, May 4. Jersey City police, fire and the Office of Emergency Management all responded to the scene at 532 Summit Ave., Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The intersection of Summit and Pavonia is being closed to traffic while the investigation continues, Wallace-Scalfione said. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, Wallace-Scalfione said.

Two Gas Station Attendants Robbed: Hillside PD Two gas station attendants at a BP in Hillside was robbed in the late afternoon on Wednesday, May 3, police said. Officers responded to 1400 Liberty Ave and spoke with an attendant who said a red vehicle with three to four occupants drove up and requested gas, police said. As the attendant was pumping gas, a man got out of the vehicle and pressed an object against the back of an attendant and told him not to move, police said. Police Kill Gunman Who Left 3 Dead Including Child In Newark (Developing) A gunman who killed a man and 7-year-old child was purportedly shot dead by police in Newark Wednesday evening, May 3, according to authorities and abc7. The Essex County Prosecutors Office said they were investigating the shooting, which occurred near Elizabeth Avenue and Meeker Avenue sometime around 8:45 p.m. The New Jersey Office of Attorney General is investigating the incident as a possible officer involved shooting, according to the Essex County Prosecutors Office. Dr. McKenzie: Two-Time Giants Super Bowl Champ Earns Ph.D From Kean University Kareem McKenzie went from excelling on the football field as an offensive lineman to excelling in the classroom. The two-time Super Bowl Champion for the New York Giants is earning a doctorate in counseling and supervision from Kean University. McKenzie, a native of Willingboro Township, was drafted by the New York Jets out of Penn State in 2001 and played three seasons with Gang Green before signing with the Giants as a free agent. Stabbed In The Back: Assault Suspect Sought After Newark Clash Took Violent Turn An arrest warrant has been issued for a 43-year-old Newark man wanted for a stabbing a man in the back on Sunday, April 23. NJ Man Gets Life For Killing Mom Of Kids, Hiding Body In Chemical Filled Trash Bags A 37-year-old Newark man was sentenced to life in prison without parole for sexually assaulting, stalking and killing the mother of his children and then disintegrating her remains by placing them in a sealed garbage bags filled with chemicals in 2018.
