A man who mowed down a pedestrian, assaulted others then barricaded himself in a Hudson County home was in custody after a seven-hour standoff Sunday, July 2, authorities said. The strange scene began shortly before 9 a.m., when 45-year-old Malik Moore, of Orange, struck a pedestrian near the intersection of 70th Street and Bergenline Avenue, police in Guttenberg said. Moree tried to walk away from the scene, and during that stroll, assaulted another person, police said. Then, he went rogue. Two Found Dead In Pennsylvania Home
A male and female were found dead over the weekend in a Pennsylvania home, authorities announced. Upper Allen Police were performing a welfare check on residents in the 800 block of Grantham Road when they found the two bodies around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, they said. The incident is under active investigation by Upper Allen Police, the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, and the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office. $1.5M Grant Will Transform Abandoned Railroad Into Hiking, Biking Trail In North Jersey
A long-abandoned railroad track that runs through Union County will soon be transformed into a hiking and biking trail, thanks to a $1.5 federal grant. Rahway Valley Railroad tracks that run through Roselle Park and Kenilwroth are slated to become multi-use tracks designed for pedestrians and bicyclists, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. A sewage spill has spoiled July Fourth Weekend plans for many in northern Virginia. The upstream spill closed Lake Accotink in Springfield out of an abundance of caution, the Fairfax County Wastewater Management Program announced.
