Thieves Take Advantage Of Broken Lock At Jersey Shore Wawa: Police Police are looking for the people responsible for taking advantage of a broken lock at a Wawa store in Wall Township early New Year's Day. Wall Township police say it happened in the Wawa at the corner of New Jersey Route 35 and Lakewood Road. Officers arrived at the store at around 2 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1. When officers got to the store, they found a note on the front door saying it was closed from 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve to 6 a.m. on New Year's Day. Crash Causes Large Backup On Route 9 Traffic was backed up for about a mile after a crash on US Route 9 in Old Bridge Township on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 3. The NJDOT says the crash happened on US 9 North just before 1 p.m. Crews responded to the crash and a fluid spill. Two lanes were closed on US 9 to the interchange with New Jersey Route 18. A traffic camera showed about a ten-minute delay on US 19 more than an hour after the crash was reported. There's no word yet about how many vehicles were in the crash or if anyone was injured.
