Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Police ID Man, 89, Drowned In Jersey Shore Lagoon Authorities have identified the man found drowned in a Jersey Shore lagoon. The elderly man was found floating face down along Laurel Boulevard, Lanoka Harbor, at 1:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, according to Lacey Police Capt. Paul Sullivan Jr. The man was identified as Robert Mcelvaney, 89, of 1025 Laurel Blvd., he said. As of this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious, Sullivan said. Banks of North Brunswick was charged with numerous drug offenses, according to Franklin Township police and the Somerset County prosecutor. Prosecutor John P. Another Dead Whale Washes Up Along Jersey Shore The Marine Mammal Stranding Center was investigating the yet another dead whale that washed up along the Jersey Shore. The whale was still floating nearly a half-mile off of Seaside Park at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1. A MMSC spokeswoman said whale experts were en route to the sighting of the dead humpback whale. A necropsy is typically carried out to determine the mammal's cause of death, and center officials assist in the whate's removal/burial once it beaches. A video of the floating whale was posted on Instagram by Seaside Park police.

Seal Stops Traffic On NJ Highway A wayward Grey seal pup stopped traffic along Route 35 in Brick, authorities said. Brick police found a seal trying to cross the busy highway on Monday, Feb. 27, Police were able to stop traffic and safely allow the seal to cross, they said.  The Marine Mammal Stranding Center, which responded with a volunteer and technician, said it's not the first time a seal has tried to cross Route 35 due to the close proximity of both the bay and ocean. John Kosarowich, 69, of Howell died, police said, and may have suffered a medical episode before the crash.
