Joe Lombardi, Daily Voice's Managing Editor, has spent his professional career as a newsroom director, manager, editor, producer, writer, reporter and broadcaster who has worked at major websites, television networks, newspapers, magazines and radio stations and as a book author.

The Manhattan native, Irvington (NY) High School and University of Dayton graduate has been actively involved in web publishing for more than 25 years. In addition, he also has expertise in marketing, public relations and social media.

Lombardi rejoined Daily Voice in September 2013 as managing editor after serving as sports editorial consultant from August 2011 through January 2012. He was named to oversee editorial operations in the fall of 2017.

Two-Alarm House Fire Breaks Out In Area A late-afternoon, two-alarm house fire broke out on the third story of a residence in the area. It happened just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 in Mahopac on Nicole Way. The blaze brought a full response from the Mahopac Fire Department with mutual aid from Mahopac Falls, Yorktown and Croton Falls fire departments and NYSE&G, as stations that were responding were covered by other neighboring departments. Small Plane Crash Causes Southern State Parkway Lane Closures Two lanes on a stretch of the Southern State Parkway were closed after a small plane crashed into the adjacent woods on Long Island. It happened in East Farmingdale between exits 32 and 33 around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, near the intersection of routes 109 and 110 and the Republic Airport. Body Of Missing Long Island Man Recovered From Pond New update: The body of a man who went missing on Long Island has been recovered. The body of Dennis Jones, 40, of Freeport was pulled from the Milburn Pond on the Baldwin/Freeport border on Saturday, Dec. 28, Nassau County Police said. He was pronounced dead at 4:21 p.m., according to police. Jones had last been seen at his residence in Freeport on Ray Street on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. The investigation into Jones' death is ongoing. Small Plane Crashes In Woods Off Southern State Parkway This story has been updated. A small plane crashed into the woods adjacent to a stretch of the Southern State Parkway on Long Island. It happened in East Farmingdale between exits 32 and 33 around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, near the intersection of routes 109 and 110 and the Republic Airport. ID Released For Victim In Fatal Overnight Long Island Shooting The victim of a fatal overnight shooting on Long Island has been identified. It happened on Saturday, Dec. 28 at approximately 2:50 a.m. in Wheatley Heights. First Precinct officers responded to Little East Neck Road, between Charlestown Place and Westmore Place, after a 911 caller reported a man lying on the side of the road, Suffolk County Police said. When officers arrived, they found the man, now ID'd as Frederick Delacruz, 30, of the Bronx, with a gunshot wound, police said. One Injured In Westchester House Fire One injury was reported after a fire broke out at a multifamily home in Westchester. The blaze, reported around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, happened on the first floor of the structure on Spruce Street in Mamaroneck. The fire was brought under control quickly and one resident was treated for unspecified injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Convicted Felon Found With Stolen Gun After Traffic Stop In Norwalk, Police Say A convicted felon was caught with a loaded handgun stolen out of a state in a traffic stop in Norwalk, police said. It happened on Friday, Dec. 27 at 6:43 p.m., when members of the Norwalk PD Strategic Narcotics Enforcement Team observed an Infinity sedan traveling on Chestnut Street. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as Kimani Williams, 28, of Bridgeport, was driving erratically, said Lt. Terrence Blake, the Norwalk PD's public information officer. Three UConn Students Diagnosed With Mumps Three cases of mumps have been identified in students enrolled at the University of Connecticut's main campus in Storrs. UConn Student Health and Wellness sent a message announcing the cases to the university community on Friday, Dec. 27, noting students are required to have received two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine in order to attend classes.
