An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Four World War II Chaplains Honored By Yorktown American Legion YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The American Legion Post #1009 in Yorktown spent their Sunday commemorating the lives of four chaplains who gave their lives in World War II.The chaplains' ship was sunk by a German submarine in the North Atlantic. One chaplain was a rabbi, one was a Dutch reformed minister, one was a Methodist and the other was a Catholic priest. While the ship was sinking, the chaplains handed out life preservers and calmed the soldiers on board. Ossining Receives $1 Million Grant Improving Main Entrance OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining High School's main entrance is getting a makeover. The Ossining School District was the recipient of a $1 million state grant to renovate the school's main entrance and make it more secure. The storm, which will impact the area for about 12 hours Thursday, prompted schools and school districts to announce closures Wednesday evening. Dutchess SPCA Uses Artistic Photos, Social Media To Find Pets Furever Homes HYDE PARK, N.Y. --The Dutchess County SPCA has had 137 adoptions in 2017, thanks to some smart social media marketing. The 145-year-old no-kill shelter has started dressing up their dogs and cats and posting the photos to its Facebook page. The photos are themed to a particular holiday like Christmas or Valentine's Day. Ossining Celebrates Peace, Unity At Rally OSSINING, N.Y. -- More than 150 people came out to Market Square in Ossining Friday to show they stand united. Nets Honor White Plains' Sean Kilpatrick With Bobblehead Sean Kilpatrick, a guard for the Brooklyn Nets who was born in Yonkers and played for White Plains High School, has been immortalized in bobblehead form. The Brooklyn Nets gave out Kilpatrick bobbleheads to fans at Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors. Kilpatrick, who was signed by the Nets last season, is averaging 14 points a game and shooting 45 percent from three point range.
