Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Weeks-Long Closures Scheduled On Southern State Parkway In Babylon, Islip Lane closures have been scheduled on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island which will take several weeks to allow crews to pave the roadway. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) issued an alert advising that as of Tuesday, May 10, there will be overnight lane closures on the parkway in Suffolk County for approximately nine weeks to facilitate a pavement resurfacing project. Tesla Recalls 130,000 Vehicles Due To Center-Screen Computer Overheating Issue Tesla has announced a new round of recalls, this time for nearly 130,000 cars that have computers inside that can overheat and malfunction while the vehicles are being charged. Fire Damages Long Island Home A fire broke out in a Long Island home overnight, officials announced. Firefighters in Massapequa responded to a reported house fire at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9 on Croyden Drive that broke out inside the residence.
