Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Firefighters Pull Off 'Tricky' Goose Rescue In Danbury First responders in Fairfield County came to the rescue of a Canada Goose that found itself in a perilous situation. On Sunday, May 8, members of the Danbury Fire Department responded to Rogers Park to perform “a tricky rescue,” officials said. Upon arrival, fire crews said that they found the goose tangled up in the net behind the baseball field and could not get free. Port Jefferson Man Sentenced 40 Years To Life For Murder A Long Island man may spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced for a fatal shooting in broad daylight after getting into a verbal altercation turned deadly, the DA announced. Suspect At Large After Fatal Shooting At CT Park, Police Say A midday fatal shooting is under investigation in Connecticut after a male victim was struck and killed during an altercation in an area park, police said.
