Equal parts Lois Lane, J. Jonah Jameson and Vicki Vale, Zak! has traveled from coast-to-coast covering small and big town community news in both in print and online for nearly a decade since his graduation from the award-winning Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in 2010.

Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Duo Nabbed For Murder Of 20-Year-Old Woman in Westchester Two shooting suspects have been arrested for their alleged roles in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old woman in Westchester. Mount Vernon resident Aaliyah Waiters was shot and killed on Saturday, Sept. 25 after she was struck in the head by a bullet at approximately 2:30 a.m. on South Third Street in the city. Nor'easter: Scattered Power Outages Being Reported In Massachusetts The first Nor’easter of the season led to scattered power outages throughout Massachusetts as the worst of the storm is yet to arrive in the region. Nearly 1,000 Massachusetts residents were without power as of 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, according to National Grid and Eversource. Nor'easter: Bellone Declares State Of Emergency In Suffolk County Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone declared a State of Emergency amid the first Nor’easter of the season with more intense weather expected to strike Long Island. Total Of 68 Cats Rescued From Single Home In Region Dozens of cats are looking for new “forever homes” after they were surrendered to a Massachusetts animal shelter by a man unable to continue taking care of them. Earlier this month, a pet owner in Worcester County contacted the Second Chance Animal Services in North Brookfield because he had to leave his home and needed to make arrangements for cats he had taken in through the years. New Test With Sirens Sounding At Full Volume Scheduled For Indian Point Gone, but not forgotten. Despite being closed down, there will be a test of the Indian Point Energy Center emergency notification sirens during a test of the system in Buchanan in Westchester this week.
